ABOUT US

"we're glad you're here."

At Tony Rice Recovery Center, every man who walks through our doors is greeted with the simple but powerful words.

For someone battling addiction or alcoholism, arriving at treatment can be one of the most difficult and vulnerable steps they will ever take. Many come carrying the weight of shame, isolation, and the feeling that they don’t belong anywhere. Hearing those words is more than a polite greeting—it is a genuine welcome into a community that cares.

“We’re glad you’re here” means:

  • You are not a burden—you are valued.
  • You are not alone—you belong.
  • You are not judged—you are accepted.

That moment of inclusion can be the first spark of hope, the beginning of trust, and the reminder that recovery is possible. At Tony Rice Recovery Center, we believe that healing begins when a person knows they are seen, wanted, and welcomed. Those four words set the tone for everything that follows.

Because recovery isn’t just about treatment—it’s about belonging. And here, you do.

LOVING PEOPLE WHO ARE LEARNING HOW TO FULLY LOVE THEMSELVES

Everything we do is rooted in compassion, dignity, and respect. We believe recovery is not only about overcoming addiction—it’s about rediscovering self-worth and learning how to embrace life with hope and purpose.

Our credo, “Loving People Who Are Learning How to Love Themselves,” reflects our commitment to walking alongside every individual who steps through our doors. Many arrive carrying pain, shame, and uncertainty. Here, they are met with acceptance, understanding, and encouragement.

We know that healing begins with love—love that is patient, unconditional, and empowering. As our clients learn to rebuild their lives, we surround them with the support and tools they need to rediscover their value and create a brighter future.

At the heart of our mission is a simple but powerful belief: everyone is worthy of love, and with the right support, everyone can learn to love themselves again.

One Laugh at a time

One of the most powerful moments we witness is when someone has their first genuine laugh in recovery—the kind that isn’t fueled by drugs or alcohol, but comes from a place of true joy. For many, it’s been far too long since they’ve experienced that kind of freedom, and hearing that first laugh is a reminder that healing is possible.

Laughter isn’t just good for the soul—it’s good for the brain and body too. Research shows that laughter reduces stress hormones, boosts mood by releasing endorphins, strengthens the immune system, and even helps rewire the brain toward healthier patterns. In recovery, laughter becomes more than a moment of happiness—it’s a sign of progress, connection, and renewed life.

our team

We believe recovery is strongest when it’s built on both professional expertise and lived experience. Our staff is made up of passionate individuals who not only serve but also understand the journey of recovery—many of us walk it ourselves. This gives us a unique ability to connect, encourage, and guide those who come through our doors.

Our team includes:

  • Licensed Counselors –  Our licensed counselors bring more than professional expertise—they bring lived experience. Each one is in recovery themselves, giving them a unique ability to walk alongside our clients with both empathy and understanding. They are deeply passionate about helping others, committed to our client community, and dedicated to creating a supportive, uplifting environment where growth and healing can flourish. While they consistently seek out innovative ways to serve, they also remain grounded in what has always worked—building trust, fostering connection, and providing evidence-based care. Their blend of personal passion, professional training, and genuine love for people makes them an irreplaceable part of our mission.

  • Behavioral Health Technicians – working alongside clients daily to ensure safety, structure, and encouragement throughout the recovery process.  Our Behavioral Health Technicians provide hands-on support and guidance to clients, helping them navigate daily challenges, build healthy routines, and make meaningful progress in their recovery journey. They are compassionate, dedicated, and an essential part of our care team.

  • Case Managers –  Our dedicated Case Managers are the heartbeat of daily client support, providing consistent care and attention every step of the way. They help clients navigate essential needs such as scheduling health appointments, accessing community resources, and acquiring necessary medications. Beyond direct support, they also work closely alongside our Counselors to ensure each individual receives seamless, well-rounded care. With compassion and commitment, our Case Managers make sure no client ever feels alone in their recovery journey.

  • Cook –   Our Cook brings more than meals to the table—he brings heart, passion, and a genuine passion for recovery and helping others. With every dish, he works to create not only nourishment for the body, but also a sense of comfort, care, and belonging for everyone at TRC. His dedication to making the dining experience special helps foster community, connection, and encouragement in our program—reminding us that recovery is about being fed in every way that matters.

  •  Maintenance Staff –  Our Maintenance Staff is far more than the person who keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes—he’s a vital part of the heart of our program. With a genuine love for the Clients, he goes above and beyond by volunteering his own time outside of work to help transport Clients to recovery meetings and community events. Always ready to lend a hand, he works tirelessly to make sure our facility feels less like an institution and more like a home—a safe, welcoming place where healing can truly happen. His care, dedication, and servant’s heart embody the spirit of our mission every single day.

  • Executive Director –  With over 18 years of leadership as our Director—and more than 25 years of lived experience in recovery—our Executive Director brings both professional expertise and personal understanding to his role. Before stepping into leadership, he served as a cook and counselor, giving him a deep appreciation for every part of the recovery journey. His true passion lies in helping the men we serve, and he leads with vision, compassion, and unwavering dedication to ensuring that our mission is carried out every day.

  • Clinical Director –  Passionate about helping others find hope and healing, our Clinical Director brings a love for music, laughter, and neuroscience into his work. With a genuine heart for people, he partners with the Executive Director to create a welcoming environment where every individual feels supported from the moment they walk through our doors. He also works closely alongside our counselors, ensuring they receive the highest quality continuing education and stay well-equipped to provide the best care for those we serve.

Together, we are more than a staff — we are a community of people who care deeply about recovery. Our combined personal experiences, professional training, and unwavering commitment allow us to meet each client with understanding, dignity, and hope.

our board of directors

The Tony Rice Center is guided by a devoted Board of Directors who volunteer their time, talents, and hearts to support our mission. Each member shares a deep commitment to serving the people of Tennessee and believes in the power of recovery to transform lives.

Our board is made up of caring leaders and professionals who are passionate about creating lasting change. They bring diverse perspectives and experiences, but are united by one goal: to ensure that every person who walks through our doors has the opportunity to heal, rebuild, and thrive.

Their dedication goes far beyond governance—they are advocates for recovery, champions for hope, and partners in building a stronger, healthier future for our communities.
